As our project on Webb Crescent in Dawley nears completion, we were delighted to welcome back students and staff from Telford College for a site visit and catch-up with the R1 team.
Between November 2024 and March 2025, 18 students from Telford College took part in a structured industry placement programme, each spending two full days on site. The initiative provided valuable first-hand experience and practical insights into the construction process, allowing students to apply their classroom learning in a live project environment. Guided by experienced professionals, the placement gave them a real-world understanding of how a construction site operates day to day.
With the placement programme now finished and construction on site nearing completion, it was a pleasure to invite Telford College back to see the projects progress and reflect on how the students' experiences on site contributed to their learning journey.
Ange Jones, Work Experience Coordinator at Telford College shared her thoughts: "We are incredibly proud to have worked alongside R1 on this fantastic project. The knowledge and experience our students have gained from this opportunity has been invaluable. The students returned to college sharing how much they had learned, how welcomed they felt by the team, and how much they appreciated the chance to be part of a live construction site.
"We welcomed the opportunity to return to site as it nears completion and would like to thank Jordan and the team for the support shown to both Telford College and our students. We look forward to working together again in the future to keep building careers in the industry.”
