R1 Construction Commences Two Significant Healthcare Projects in Nottinghamshire and Denbighshire

10 Sept 2026

R1 Construction is pleased to announce the commencement of works on two significant healthcare projects in Nottinghamshire and Denbighshire, further strengthening its commitment to delivering high-quality facilities that support the wellbeing of residents, patients and local communities.

The first project, a multi-million-pound care home refurbishment and expansion in Nottinghamshire, will transform an existing facility through a comprehensive programme of internal refurbishment and remodelling, alongside the construction of a new three-storey steel frame extension. Initial works are now underway, including the strip-out of the existing care home and groundworks to facilitate the new extension.

Once complete, the development will provide 30 high-quality en-suite bedrooms, enhanced communal living spaces and modern care facilities, creating a comfortable, safe and welcoming environment for residents. External improvements will include a new linkway connecting the existing and new buildings, the installation of solar PV panels, EV charging facilities and the retention of established landscaping. The investment will help meet growing demand for care accommodation in the area while providing residents with a modern environment tailored to their needs.

At the same time, R1 Construction has commenced a major healthcare refurbishment project in Denbighshire, Wales. The scheme will create a high-quality, purpose-designed healthcare environment comprising 15 patient bedrooms, with every aspect of the design focused on promoting comfort, dignity and safety.

A key element of the project involves upgrading the existing building to meet the requirements of a new healthcare service. Refurbished facilities will feature enhanced anti-tamper measures and robust finishes throughout patient-accessible areas, helping to create a secure and supportive setting for future occupants.

The comprehensive programme of works includes the creation of new staff bases, offices and meeting rooms, the installation of a lift, refurbishment of en-suite facilities, upgrades to communal areas and a complete review and replacement of mechanical and electrical services throughout the building.

These projects reflect R1 Construction's continued expertise in the healthcare and care sectors, delivering modern, sustainable environments that enhance the quality of care and provide long-term benefits for the communities they serve. As works progress on both developments, R1 looks forward to working closely with stakeholders to successfully deliver facilities that will meet the needs of residents, patients and healthcare professionals for years to come.
