Transformational Works Set to Revitalise Redundant Garages in Ironbridge with Two New Energy-Efficient Bungalows

13 May 2025

Exciting developments are underway in Ironbridge as plans progress to transform a redundant garage court into two new, energy-efficient bungalows. The demolition of the old garage structures will make way for the construction of two modern 2-bedroom homes, designed with energy efficiency in mind.

The new bungalows will be built using Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), an innovative building structure renowned for its strength and excellent thermal performance. These homes will feature efficient heating and insulation, as well as solar panels, further reducing energy consumption for future residents.

Ben Tomkinson, Managing Director at R1 Construction, commented: “We are excited to begin this important project in the coming months. The demolition of the redundant garage court will pave the way for the construction of two modern, energy-efficient bungalows, which will enhance the local area. These homes will provide high-quality living spaces, designed to minimise energy consumption, contributing to a more sustainable and cost-effective environment for the community. This development presents a fantastic opportunity to meet the growing demand for energy-efficient homes.”

Martin James, Development & Regeneration Manager at Housing Plus Group added:

“At Housing Plus Group, we are committed to making the best use of land to meet the evolving needs of our communities. This project in Ironbridge is a perfect example of how we can regenerate underused spaces to deliver high-quality, affordable, energy-efficient homes. These new bungalows will not only provide much-needed housing but also reflect our ambition to create places people are proud to call home.”

Work on the site is scheduled to begin this summer, with the development providing much-needed, energy-efficient homes for the local community.
