Refurbishment of an existing building to create new Cricket & Bowls Pavilion for the local community.
Shelton Cricket Club had been operating out of a condemned modular building for years and it simply wasn’t going to survive another winter. Luckily for the club, a local house builder had just purchased the abandoned hospital next door and after seeing the terrible state of the structure, very kindly gifted one of their outbuildings to the club for a sports facility renovation. Shropshire Council agreed to fund and manage the renovation project via their sports facility improvement scheme and plans very quickly took shape.
Keen to grow our own local project library, R1 Construction tendered the scheme and was fortunate enough to be successful. Works commenced in January 2017 and lasted just 8 weeks, perfectly in time for the club's new cricket season!
R1 Construction were given the task to turn this empty building shell into a fully functioning sports pavilion inclusive of Team Changing Rooms, an Umpire Changing Room, a Club Bar and Social area, a Club Kitchen and WCs.
